EA pursuing Hollywood Need for Speed movie

Tyred dashboard.

Oh look - upside-down Vin Diesel face!

A Need for Speed movie may become A Thing, Variety is reporting.

EA wants writers George and John Gatins to adapt the racing game IP into a film. Their most notable work is Real Steel, the new robot boxing film that stars Wolverine and Kate from Lost.

Studios Warner Bros., Sony and Paramount are apparently interested - the latter in particular.

Need for Speed was outstandingly rebooted two years ago by Burnout developer Criterion. Eurogamer declared Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit an "unqualified triumph" and dished out 9/10.

We're expecting another Need for Speed game from Criterion this November, as fits EA's 'a new Need for Speed game every year' plan. But what Criterion's new game will hasn't been announced. Hot Pursuit 2, or something else?
