Medal of Honor gets free multiplayer DLC

Plus, EA's shooter sells 1.5 million units.

Medal of Honor users will be on the receiving end of free multiplayer DLC next month, publisher EA has announced.

It's a team-based elimination mode called Clean Sweep and comes with two new maps – Baghram Hangar and Khyber Caves. Two existing maps – Diwagal Camp and Kabul City Ruins will also get some tweaks.

You'll be able to download the content for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from 2nd November. No word yet on a PC release.

EA has also revealed that its controversial FPS shifted an impressive 1.5 million copies worldwide in its first week of release.

Looks like those poor review scores didn't hurt the game too much then.

Good news. Nice PR stunt ahead of COD.

So does DLC that SHOULD have been on the disc count as "real" DLC?

I have the game and think its good but to ship a game with not enough mode/maps then "treat us" with so called free DLC is not on....but we got this with BFBC2 so to be expected it seems

I think its great that there will be free DLC but first I would like them to release some patches to fix alot of the problems that the game currently has.

If only the map had been named Khyber Pass...

It's a good solid game. It'll keep me going till Christmas.

They need to sell another 1.5M in order to secure a sequel. I'm looking forward to that.

  • beastmaster #8 2 years ago

    Good news. That's all.

Why do they need another 1.5M to secure a sequel?
  • inutaihanyou #10 2 years ago

^ EA said it themselves. "The game has to sell 3 million or we won't bother to make another one"

Of course its all just PR speak, but some do take these claims seriously you know..

I just wish they had shipped this on the CD, it doesn't matter if its free or not, the fact that you have to ship an incomplete game is ludicrous, as this DLC was obviously ready before shipping date.

Reviews got it so wrong. The short SP campaign has some truly unique moments which are more immersive because of the actual conflict and not some shody soap fantasy fireworks like MW2 had. Hope there is a sequel.

    Loved the singleplayer
    Loved the combat mission mode
    Hated the rest

result: give me more combat mission maps !!!

I have actually enjoyed the single player campaign - once you get the first couple of missions out the way it really heats up...... Very short though. Still the online is good. Got to wonder about its life span though. I think they know it will lose out to COD.... Good support for free DLC though

Plus.......I bet Dusty could kick Soap's and Ghost's arses all over the place lol
  • coolbritannia #15 2 years ago

Hmm, the B:BC model of unlocking game modes you should have had in the first place. Pass.

mulitiplayer is strangely addictive! its so much faster than battlefield and yet has that COD element to it; i love how the unlocking of different weapons and abilities feels like you're really progressing compared to COD's 'randomness' in feature unlocks.

anyway cant wait for the dlc, in the mean time the narccistic comments on this thread should keep me occupied.

As above, multiplayer is pretty great. Really enjoying it.

I find it funny that EG says that the poor reviews didn't hurt it too much yet gave it an inexplicably high score themselves. 8/10? Really EG? And you thought the quite brilliant Dead Space was only worth 7/10? Laughable

Extreme lack of maps I agree .. Per gamemode there's only like 4 maps, which is pathetic really.. This free DLC is great but adds only 2 new and 2 reworked maps for a new gamemode, it doesn't add anything for the other gamemodes.. I prefer Team Assault and Sector Control, only 4 maps will get boring soon.. So they better add more maps soon, and they better be free.. I play on PC btw..
