Dead Rising 2 DLC announced

Theme Packs add new weapons and abilities.

Four DLC Theme Packs for zombie smash-em-up Dead Rising 2 will be released over the course of the next month, Capcom's announced.

The four themes are insane psychopath, sleek ninja, crazy sports fanatic and kick-ass soldier.

The Psychopath Theme Pack will be the first to release: 12th October on XBLA and 13th October on PSN. The Soldier of Fortune pack will follow a week later, the Sports Theme Pack a week after that, and the Ninja Theme Pack a week after that. They'll cost 160 MS Points or £1.59 / €1.99.

Capcom's told us the DLC will be made available for the PC version of the game, but release dates are sketchy.

You'll be able to mix and match items from each pack. So, if you fancy it, you can wear the ninja shoes, sports fan hat, psycho jacket and Soldier of Fortune trousers. Snazzy.

The PlayStation Network and Xbox Live downloads include new skills, weapons and outfits for protagonist Chuck. Ninja Chuck, for example, will have a new stealth mode where zombies have to be much closer to him to detect his presence.

Dead Rising 2 is really very good. Simon Parkin awarded it 8/10 for Eurogamer. Screens showcasing the Theme Packs are below.

Now this is my kind of DLC. The shit kind that has no effect on achievements, that I have no intention of buying.

    Good work, Capcom.
  • The_B #2 2 years ago

    Any word on price?

EDIT: Just found out, it's going to be 160MSP/€1.99/£1.59 per pack.

It's just the pre-order bonuses released as DLC, as per Mafia II.
  • Jonathan_Fakenham #4 2 years ago

We kinda knew though. The co-op/free versions of these have been on the marketplace since release.
  • jonharrispro #5 2 years ago

so will this be free or not Eurogamer? probably the most important bit of info the reader wants!!!
  • geeza2020 #6 2 years ago

    what a load of shit.

I know the games tongue in cheek, but i still like my Chuck to look relatively normal, as opposed to high heels and dress.

I'm confused. Is this a thankyou to us for not having played Dead Rising 1 on PS3?
  • darleysam #9 2 years ago

    It's a thankyou for whining.
  • Moribundman #10 2 years ago

160MSP is a decent price for new special moves, stat boosts, weapons and abilities.

Its a decent price for something that tweaks the game mechanics. It's not an essential purchase, but its nice to have the option, especially if you didn't pre-order from GAME (for the Ninja) or buy the Outbreak Edition (for the Psycho).

edit: Oh get over yourselves. Anti-DLC trolls are worse than fanboy trolls.

What's that? A story about DLC? I simply MUST zero in on that and tell the world how much I disapprove of DLC...

Funny though, Game's selling point was the exclusive ninja kit with the preorder.

I can't believe they changed Gamestations website to be almost exactly the same. I know Game owns them... But what's the point?!
  • Moribundman #12 2 years ago

@AbracadaverAK Maybe they should give you the option to just pay 1000MSP for a 200 point gamerscore boost and cut out the middle man if that's all you care about...
  • Moribundman #13 2 years ago

I want to buy a car please.

Whats that? I have to pay EXTRA for leather seats, power steering, custom rims and a sunroof?

How fucking DARE you! Money grabbing bastards!

Nobody should have the option of buying those extra things because I personally don't want them. Fuck you BMW.

(And you should only make your cars in my favourite colour, because nobody should have the option of buying them in any colour except the one I want).
  • Notallowedhere #14 2 years ago

    @Moribundman

You're forgetting to demand a 2nd car along with the first one you have purchased because is was "made in the factory at the same time"
  • Moribundman #15 2 years ago

@Notallowedhere I'm just going to wait for them to include the beverage cup holders and tinted windows as standard when the Car of The Year model rolls out...

For a second I read the headline as Theme Parks and got all excited, then I re-read it.....Guess ill get the ninja pack anyway :)
  • I\'mListening #17 2 years ago

This isn't a comment against dlc or anything but couldn't things like this be a reward for performing certain in-game actions?
  • Moribundman #18 2 years ago

@I\'mListening You *can* unlock the Ghouls & Ghosts Armour, the Convict outfit and the Shaun of the Dead outfit in-game, but I'm not sure the second two actually do anything any more than the random clothes do (apart from being available from the safehouse locker)...

The G&G armour essentially makes you "invulnerable" until you've taken the equivalent of 50% damage then it falls off (as in G&G). Not really all that useful since you've probably passed level 40 by the time you complete the game with the best ending (for the armour), beat the guy at poker (for the helmet) and can afford the cash for the boots...

The three most hackneyed, played out internet memes are ninjas, pirates and zombies.

/ despairs for the pirate dlc pack release next week
  • schachmatt #20 2 years ago

    This is worse than horse-armour.
How someone can defend this kind of business practice is beyond me.
  • Rack #21 2 years ago

£6.40 for a handful of costumes and cheats? The game only cost me £18!

I'm not rabidly opposed to DLC, I've bought tons of Rock Band songs, the Fallout 3 stuff and even the Parachute Thrusters for Just Cause 2 but DLC this poor value it deserves to be slammed.

Costumes? That's lame. How about some new areas or new weapons and weapon combos?

Read it again. New weapons and skills are included with each pack.

I unlocked the convict outfit after defeating TK in the helicopter[/i]. Not used it though, and I assume it is just an outfit without any special abilities. Need to confirm via the dead rising wiki.

@darkmorgado Kill 10 psychos for it,

@EarlBassett Generally tend to agree with you. Why (specifically)?
  • darkmorgado #26 2 years ago

@darkmorgado Kill 10 psychos for it,

Ah right. I was going for a perfect run at the time, so that's probably why then. I still ended up with 6 survivors short of the 50 achiev though. Been told that it only signposts 8 at a time, so that might be why. I missed the Tape it or Die guys, and Snowflake and the dude hiding in the security room cos of her[/i]. Doing another playthrough now, starting at Lvl 37.

Determined to get the full 1,000GS on this as a badge of honour.

If you want to liken it to additional upgrades on a car this is more like charging £3,000 for fuzzy dice.
