Dead Rising 2 EU release brought forward

PC version arriving a week later, though.

The console versions of Capcom's zombie killer sequel Dead Rising 2 will be released across Europe on 24th September – a week earlier than planned.

The PC version, however, will be released a week later, on 28th September.

"Good news for all you Zombie fans across Europe and Australia – we're pleased to announce that the title will now launch on Friday 24th September for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with the PC version scheduled for 28th September," reads Capcom's European site.

Dead Rising 2 is being created by Canadian developer Blue Castle Games, but Capcom's Keiji Inafune is producing.

Keza MacDonald went hands-on for Eurogamer and survived to tell the tale.

Is there a new equivalent to Kent the photographer?

Has a demo for this been confirmed? I'm sure the original DR had a demo released quite a while before it went on sale. I remember playing the demo loads of times leading up to it's release.

There's no demo, but they are releasing a 400 MSP prequel which features most of the gameplay (minus co-op) as well as a new story.

The same day as Civ V?

    Argh!

I still can't believe they're doing a PC version this time. I don't care that it's a week later than the consoles, it's just awesome that we are getting it at all. Thanks Capcom :)

    Hope this lives up.

    Really looking forward to this!

Just hope the Canadian dev team don't lose the stupid and weird humour of the first game.

Wish they'd called the main character something other than Chuck though....

Weekend Confirmed podcast suggests this is a dog - no where as good as the original.

Rushing it out, with no demo (when the original benefited so much from the demo - it made my mind up) does not suggest confidence on their part, does it ?

I will be very disappointed if it is bad, cos I loved no. 1.

When it comes to releasing a demo the developers'/publisher's confidence in the game is probably the least of their concern.

Also, who says they are rushing it? The game has been in development for quite a while.

I think releasing this one week after Halo Reach isnt going to help sell the 360 version.
This might be the first Capcom game i dont buy for my 360. I loved the first but im afraid the sequel is dumbed down thanks to the complaints about the save system that i found genius and made the game what it was. Coop could be a big plus though.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is due August 31st on XBLA at 400 MSP.

"Demo" comes out nearly a month before finished game. What's the problem?

    @muscleblade

Yeah, I think it is strange that they have brought the release date closer to that of Reach too - might not help them.
I also really liked the save system though not many others did.

I hope the sequel is as good as the first though I do have my doubts. If it is then it's a day 1 as the first is up there as one of my favourite games this gen.

The save system is what made the game so brilliant. Decisions actually mattered - this added tremendously to the atmosphere.
  • Notallowedhere #15 2 years ago

Save system is similar but you have 3 slots rather than 1 and save points seem better placed.

  • PoundHound #16 2 years ago

PSWii60 - There is no split screen co-op. Online co-op only, I believe.

I'm another one thankful for the PC version! Yay! Played the first on the Xbox 360, but I just can't get used to that damn controller..

There better not be an equivalent of that fucker Otis in the 2nd game.
