THQ reveals Saints Row: The Third

After weeks of leaks and scraps of facts, THQ has formerly announced Saints Row: The Third.

Volition will develop for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and the game will arrive "this holiday season". That's autumn, not the summer when Brits fly abroad to tan their tums and tatts.

Saints Row pumps the Grand Theft Auto formula full of steroids, preferring explosive out and out gang warfare and manic customisation to any semblance of realism. And Saints Row 2, released 2008, was terrific, taking an enormous 9/10 from Eurogamer.

"There's no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm," quipped THQ core games boss Danny Bilson.

THQ hired porn star Tera Patrick to help promote Saints Row 2. That'll be a hard one to beat.
