Space Quest creators launch Kickstarter for new adventure game

Yep, another one.

Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, co-creators of Sierra's classic Space Quest series, have launched a Kickstarter page to fund their new game project.

It's another lighthearted intergalactic adventure title, currently titled SpaceVenture, for PC, Mac, Linux, iPad and Android. There's not a great deal of additional detail out there, but the pair have confirmed that a raft of veteran voice talent will be appearing.

Space Quest 4 and 6 narrator Gary Owens is on board, as is Ellen McLain of GlaDOS fame, Robert Clotworthy from StarCraft 1 and 2, and Rob Paulsen from Monkey Island.

They want $500,000 of your cash in return for the usual array of rewards and incentives - check out their sales pitch below.

At the time of writing, they've reached $71,985 from 1340 backers, with 34 days of fund raising left to run.

The first Space Quest was released way back in 1986 followed by a number of sequels, the most recent of which was 1995's Space Quest 6: The Spinal Frontier.

There's a gaggle of ex-Sierra types currently doing the Kickstarter thing. As well as Murphy and Crowe, Gabrile Knight creator Jane Jensen recently secured funding for her new title Moebius, while Leisure Suit Larry creator Al Lowe has secured enough cash for a full remake of his breakthrough game.
