Mass Effect Andromeda developers reassure fans after trailer sparks animation concerns
"We'll be polishing the game until they take it from our cold, dead hands."
Three top Mass Effect developers have moved to reassure fans concerned by the quality of animation and lip-syncing shown in last night's new Andromeda trailer.
Response to last night's gameplay reveal was mostly positive. Fans loved its reveal of two new alien squadmates: female turian Vetra and krogan badass Drack.
But it was the animations for human characters, and in particular Andromeda's female Ryder main character, which caused some to question whether the trailer was showing final-quality gameplay.
BioWare general manager Aaron Flynn, who presented and narrated the trailer, took to Twitter to respond - and was joined shortly by creative director Mac Walters, as well as producer Mike Gamble.
The answer? What you saw is still being polished.

When will EA rip Mass Effect Andromeda out of BioWare's hands and finally release it to the public? Last night's trailer again lacked a release date. For a game still listed as "spring 2017", the publisher is leaving it very late.
But then - after a five-year wait from Mass Effect 3 - surely it's best the game is released fully polished, even if it does need a little longer.
