Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion delayed to November
Was originally due in September.
Bungie has delayed the launch of Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion from its previously announced September release date to 10th November, citing a 'challenging' few months.
Beyond Light forms the first instalment in a planned trilogy of new expansions, and revolves around the arrival of the mysterious Darkness via a fleet of Pyramid ships heading toward Earth. It sees the return of Destiny 1's Exo Stranger, and includes the new Stasis element, plus a raid known as the Deep Stone Crypt, situated beneath the frozen tundra of new destination Europa.
Bungie had originally set a 22nd September release date for Beyond Light, but the developer announced its plans to delay its launch in a new statement posted to the Destiny website.
"As the first chapter in a new trilogy of expansions, Beyond Light is the beginning of a new era of Destiny 2," the developer wrote. "We have a powerful story to tell and incredible new features that we're really excited for players to experience. As always, our goal is to make the coolest, most entertaining expansion we can possibly make for our fans. To that end, we are doing what's best for the game and moving the launch date.
"The past few months have been a challenge and will continue to be during this pandemic. We've learned to create together in a new way, by having to work apart from one another. Despite these hurdles, we're still committed to the same level of quality that our fans expect."
Bungie says it intends to reveal more details on Beyond Light in the "coming weeks", and also notes that Destiny 2's current Season of Arrivals will now run until 10th November.
