Welcome to your weekly videoblast from Outside Xbox. This week we played Far Cry 4 in the triumphant return of the Far Cryathlon, our digital sporting challenge par excellence. The event this time is a fortress liberation challenge: each contestant is assigned a liberation method and the quickest to liberate the Ratu Gadhi fortress is the winner. Expect mortars, elephant rampages and many, many explosions in this new Far Cry 4 gameplay.
Pre-ordering Far Cry 4 gets you some bonus missions and an in-game harpoon gun, which make sense and are appropriate to the game. On other occasions, game pre-order and special edition bonuses are not so explicable, such as Infamous: Second Son's glow-in-the-dark condoms or writer Charlie Brooker's appearance as a Nazi in Sniper Elite 3. Hit play for the nine most bewildering.
Finally, this week were also preparing for Gamescom, mostly by getting in a tizz over Bioware's mysterious new game, possibly called Shadow Realms. What is it? What do those cryptic teaser trailers mean? Is it anything to do with the Canadian LARPing society? Jane, Mike and I examine the evidence and come to wildly different conclusions.
