SimCity offline mode "almost there mayors"

Update 10 in final testing now.

The long-awaited offline mode for SimCity seems to be nearly here.

Offline mode will be a part of Update 10, which is in "final testing" according to the official Twitter account (via IGN). "Almost there mayors."

To say SimCity had a few hiccups at launch is an understatement, and many of them revolved around the questionable always-online requirement.

Series creator Will Wright described the launch as "inexcusable".

Why has the offline mode taken so long? The entire game was built around people's cities communicating with each other online, and altering that took six-and-a-half months of development.
