Assassin's Creed 3 divided people - Tom liked it, and a fair few of you agreed with him while a few more didn't - but there's one thing that everyone's settled on: the naval sections were a clear highlight.

So it's not too much of a surprise to learn they're back for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, and they're pretty much the backbone of this year's instalment of the mega franchise. Ian recently popped over to Singapore and Montreal to have a look at it all himself, and he managed to get some exclusive footage as well as some fresh insight into how the naval forts will figure in the game.

There'll be a few more exclusive Assassin's Creed 4 videos on the site in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out - and if you want to get to them before I've had the chance to rattle through one of these updates subscribe to the Eurogamer YouTube channel and get them all straight from the source.
