Burnout Crash will be an action game that offers points for creating traffic pileups, according to US age-rater ESRB.

In a departure from series norms, Crash's "cartoony vehicles" are controlled "from a top-down perspective".

"Each level is accompanied by crashing sounds, small explosions, and vocal encouragement like "cool" and "maximum carnage", just like on Fox News.

In more whimsical levels, "oversized airplanes, tornadoes, lobster monsters, and UFOs slide across the screen, destroying any vehicles in their path".

This isn't the first we've heard of Burnout Crash - the Australian Classification Board outed the game last month. EA has yet to formally announce the project.

Series developers Criterion had long been linked to a downloadable Burnout game for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. The reason for this was a lack of a Crash Mode in most recent Burnout game Burnout Paradise.
