Final Fantasy III arrives on App Store

Square Enix wants Ł9.49.

A revamped iOS version of classic NES RPG Final Fantasy III is available now on the App Store, publisher Square Enix has announced.

The optimised port of the 2007 DS remake of the 1990 original will set you back a princely Ł9.49. Take a look at the trailer below and judge for yourself whether you think it's worth 16 copies of Angry Birds.

The game is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 3.0 or above, while a scaled-up iPad version is due to launch next month. Square isn't saying how much it will want for that.

Eurogamer scribe Simon Parkin awarded the DS version of the game 6/10.

"Not all things that flutter wide, pretty eyes and flash impressive curves are necessarily beautiful," he wrote. "In a sense then, this is a game for the RPG fan willing to overlook intolerable weaknesses of character just to have a desirable looking girl on their arm."
