Unputdownable iOS time-waster Tiny Wings is Apple's pick for the European App Store's iPhone game of the year.
However, its US counterpart plumped for cute resource management effort Tiny Tower.
Stylish physics puzzler Contre Jour was named iPad game of the year in Europe, whereas Dead Space HD got the nod in the US.
Predictably, Angry Birds was the top selling game of the year (so far) in both territories on both iPhone and iPad, with perennial chart hogs Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja and Doodle Jump also placing in the top 10.
Other notable achievements: Epic's Infinity Blade was the 20th best-selling iPad app of 2011 in Europe, followed by World of Goo at 21.
