W40K Space Marine heading to PC
In addition to consoles next year.
THQ has announced that its upcoming third-person shooter based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Marine, will be released on PC in addition to PS3 and Xbox 360.
Developed by Relic Entertainment, Space Marine is now due out in "early 2011" on those formats and puts players in the space boots of a Space Marine on an Imperial Forge World that is being invaded by Orks.
In a statement marking the announcement, Relic general manager Jonathan Dowdeswell paid tribute to the "loyal PC audience" and said they mattered a lot to the girls and boys at the developer.
Not much is known about Space Marine yet but we're all expecting that to change soon. In the meantime check out our Space Marine preview from E3 2009 and the fancy trailer from last month's Los Angeles jamboree below.

Nothing but admiration for Relic right here so this is fantastic news.

With the advert in front of it, that trailer does remind me how closely positioned the star/war-craft and warhammer/40K worlds are.
Presumably, Blizzard were heavily influenced by Games Workshop when they made Warcraft back in '94 (Warhhamer originally coming out in '83 and being in its pomp by the early nineties), and then both borrowed heavily from similar sources ever since - such as the Tyranids and Zerg both being giger-esque creations of startling similarity.

I always buy for PC if there is a choice, 2 words POWER and STEAM.
Third person games are better with a pad often, but there is always a choice on PC and consoles feel like there running on steam power sometimes, oh iam so funny.
This game has potential but the same could be said of any game at this phase of development of course so just a matter of wait and see.

which is a shame...
but then again maybe they'll do a space marine II and III if this one is a success...

It may seem like a small thing, but bolters fire huge fecking rocket-propelled bullets! It shouldn't fire like a submachinegun on speed and take half a magazine to take down an enemy!
Keep it canon or sod off and make up your own backstory!

lolwut about a developer that does RTS almost exclusively not being dedicated to PC? I expect the only reason this game wasn't coming to PC was THQ.

Although it won't stop me buying it I know exactly what you mean.
I always thought Bolters should go "whump whump" not "pewpewpewpew" if you know what I mean.
In the WH40K lore (if you'll indulge my nerdiness

But why always bloody space marines and orcs?!? Whats wrong with the awesome eldar (of course harlequins would be ftw but that will only happen when i own the franchisw), dark eldars and tyranids? Always bloody marines, orcs and chaos...
....still, if they appropriately portray lets say a terminator marine, let you have a dreadnought in the squad, perhaps some power fist splattering, or maybe even taking down one of the smaller orc titans...then id guess that would be OK.
Put in an unlockable mini-campaign of grey wolves (or was it knights?) vs daemons or tyranids and im yours
