Serious Sam 3 should be done in 2010

Croteam on schedule, not joking.

Croteam has said that Serious Sam 3 will be finished sometime next year.

"Serious Sam 3 is happening for sure," CEO Roman Ribaric told Destructoid. "It is currently planned to be finished in 2010."

Only a few scraps of information have been released for Serious Sam 3 so far. Ribaric told Eurogamer in July that the game will drop the trademark cartoon visuals, although the hectic gameplay will return.

Croteam sprung into life this autumn with the PC release of Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, which refit the original chaotic shooter with today's technology - primarily the Serious Engine 3.

The Xbox Live Arcade version will be released in January 2010, followed by Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter sometime during the "early" part of the year.

I just hope it represents the Serious Sam awesoemness of the franchise entrance in the map of gaming back in the days. I dont have high hopes for it but then again.. You never know. Love Serious Sam though.

Darn it Lamelas, I came in here exactly to say that!

I hope this delivers after how disappointing all of Painkiller's expansions have been...

Don't know boys, the main "problem" (if you can call it that) with Serious Sam is how simplistic and "old" the whole concept feels : enter a new area , shoot everything that gets thrown at you , rinse and repeat...

That might have worked 10 years ago but now...

On the other hand, trying to change that very concept by incorporating new gameplay elements would practically destroy the game's feel , it's basically a two-edged sword...
All of the above is regarding a "next-gen" sequel , not previous titles.

Croteam has basically a very difficult job to do i think...

Now, where is Serious Sam HD for the Xbox live arcade? Can't wait for that :)

Well I think intense action will never get old, just need to have a fresh mix of enemies and scenery.

    >Never saw the attraction of SS.

Make it exactly like SS1, but with new levels designed with the mentiality, and with none of the extra stuff of over-complications that ruined SS2, and I'll snap it up straight away.

Please don't make it a PC exclusive though. No need to make consessions for consoles, as SS1 worked brilliantly. Just port the fucker over!

As much as mowing down enemies again and again should get boring and repetitive... there was something about SS that kept pushing me on. Looking foward to this and hoping they make a good game.

It was the attitude of goofy cruelty that made the Serious Sam games stand out. You know when you see a +1 health pill sitting all by itself in a corner, there's at least a 50-50 chance something nasty will be triggered by it. You grab it anyway, because you can't just leave it there. Boom. Ten giant robot birds spawn in right on top of you. No other game ever dared to be so stupid. So refreshing.

Really surprised there are those that didn't like ss2 as much as ss1. I've been playing FPS's since the time of Doom, and I've found ss2 to be the most funny OTT fps ever. Can't wait for ss3 but, bit worried about them ditching the cartoon look as I thought it was excellent. So long as they keep the humour I think it'll be great. Just out of curiosity though, I'd love to know what is was about ss1 that people preferred to ss2. I've got both, and ss1 just seems non existent with the humour.
