SEGA silent on NiGHTS PS2 News

PlayStation 2 Wii News by Robert Purchese

20 November, 2007

SEGA Europe has offered no comment over reports that a remake of Saturn game NiGHTS: Into Dreams is heading to PS2 early next year.

Word spilled originally from Japanese magazine Famitsu (translated by IGN), which said the iconic title would be getting 16:9 support and upgraded visuals, as well as an illustration gallery and movie viewer.

Apparently the game is set to launch in Japan on 21st February 2008, and it will also be introduced at a budget price point - alongside a Nightopia Dream Pack that has the all important picture book inside.

Whether SEGA Europe's silence suggests it is a Japan-only offer is unclear, but we expect more to become clear as we get close to Wii game NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams release in January.

Why don't they remake it on PSN? Using the motion sensing?

IT WOULD WORK FOR ONCE DAMMIT.

I'm losing all faith in eurogamer. Every time you guys mention NiGHTS you seem to think it was a Dreamcast game. :(

Whoa. Even if it does turn out to be Japan only I'll probably go out of my way to import this. I miss NiGHTS.

The Sega Ages lineup is becoming solid indeed. I have Cassini run NiGHTS just fine so I might not be tempted to fix my PS2 just yet. Maybe Yakuza 2 will do the trick!

If it's true and also happens to work on the PS3 through BC, this is great news indeed. Upscaled NiGHTs, mmmmm.

Wow. To think this has to be the third time EG mentions NiGHTS as a Dreamcast game... Funny thing is I actually pointed out the mistake before.

You're fired, Rob.

Oi ninty fanboy of yore, we're supposed to be friends now so these inflammatory remarks are a bit unnecessary! I for one never played it on the Saturn but found it incredibly fun playing it on Cassini, and I never owned a Saturn either so it couldn't be my rose-tinted glasses!

It's an okay game, I'm looking at the Saturn box from where I'm sitting. Sega would be better off doing a remake of Burning Rangers on some hardware that could cope with the game imho.

I would like... die if they don't release it in the UK. It would make perfect sense to release it here since we're getting the Wii version >.>
