PS3 secures exclusive Mafia II DLC
An offer you can't refuse?
The first batch of downloadable Mafia II content will be exclusive to PlayStation 3, 2K Games has announced.
First-hand buyers will be supplied with a voucher to download The Betrayal of Jimmy for free. But buy second-hand and you'll need to spend £6.29.
Is this 2K Games' answer to EA's Project Ten Dollar?
The second batch of DLC - Jimmy's Vendetta - will be offered on all three Mafia II platforms: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Betrayal of Jimmy shows the mob through Jimmy's eyes. He's the man the mafioso calls when a 'difficult' job needs doing. For Jimmy there are a "dozen" missions based around rampaging through the city causing loads of mayhem. Scores will be recorded and posted automatically to leaderboards.
Jimmy's Vendetta, meanwhile, follows Jimmy while he attempts to clean up other people's messes in new locales and missions. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
Mafia II will be released on 27th August for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Fine, fuck you too.

Maybe they're not going after it anymore because it didn't prove to give them any kind of advantage?

"Soooo, because I made a certain purchasing decision years ago, I get LESS of a game today?"
I'll be feeling the exact same way when Dead Rising 2 comes out and I don't get the prologue because I don't have an XBox

What do they honestly think will happen?
'Oh, that piece of 30 minute DLC only comes on that console but I have the other one. I'll spend 250 plus the price of the game and get that one then.'

In likelihood they probably think that people who own multiple formats will go for the PS3 version. I imagine that is the main reason they do this sort of thing. I'm sure it works with a lot of people and I'm sure most PS3 owners also own an Xbox anyway so as annoying as this sort of practice is it certainly is a sound way to get people to buy the game on PS3. I would never consider buying this game on PS3 otherwise... but now it at least makes me contemplate buying it instead of the £15 cheaper PC version.

its the Dead Space Extraction port with Dead Space 2 on the ps3 i am pissed off about..sure i heard its a crap game and on rails etc,but its free for PS3 peeps
@Acrid....the Dead Rising 2 prologue(or whatever its called) apparently bridges the story of Dead Rising 1 to Dead Rising 2,and as Dead Rising 1 never appeared on the PS3,i guess it wont be anything that you will really miss, especially as it will prolly be about 1200+ points

And if they release map packs which stops me playing with the rest of the community then it is the last time I buy one of their games.
Stop pissing around with your customer base.

They however small or large would certainly love to get the prologue that are denied to the PS3 only owners?
Still, have always said DLC exclusives to stink and wishes they would stick to the full game exclusives.

wat
Fanboy driven games with no basis for hype other than the strange ability to sell mediocrity to people that pay for their gold accounts with an allowance. Nobody anybody respects anticipates either of those games.

Nice though it is to be given the opportunity to experience this content because I bought what the publisher feels is the correct console three years ago the whole affair is still total BS and doesn't reflect well on the publishers who take this route.
@GamesConnoisseur: don't forget the people who were looking forward to the much touted PS3 port of Dead Rising 1 that never materialised. To not get the first one and then not get the prologue either is a kick in the nuts to PS3 owners who want to get in on the franchise that for them starts with a sequel.

So, do I buy Mafia II on 360 and assume that the DLC will turn up eventually, or do I wait until I own a PS3 (i.e. when The Last Guardian is released)?
I don't buy many games on release day, but Mafia II was all set to be my first >£30 purchase of the year.

Really? Who said it's shit? It's got a blinding average review score and everyone I know who has played it has said it's one of the most atmospheric games on the Wii. When I played it, it made me jump more than once. The graphics are top notch, the atmosphere (particularly sound) is spot-on.
Oh I get it, it's a Wii game so it must be shit.
