DOA4's Halo char is Spartan

Bungie confirms. Plus shots.

Bungie's confirmed that the Halo character set to appear in Dead Or Alive 4 is Spartan 458, effectively a girl in a Master Chief outfit. "Those shots are real," says Bungie's weekly update. "They are taken from an early iteration of the character by [DOA4 developer] Team Ninja."

Bungie reckons she looks "totally natural" even without a gun, and has an "awesome" fighting style. "And wait until you see her special moves and counters. And yes, we know what her back-story is, because we created it. We'll tell you about it soon."

As you can see from the shots floating around, Spartan 458's DOA stage will be as familiar to Halo fans' eyes as her iconic armour - in fact, it's probably the closest you'll come to seeing next-gen Halo on Xbox 360 in the coming months.

The American and European Xbox 360 launch line-ups have yet to be revealed, but during its pre-TGS briefing Microsoft Japan said that DOA4 would be among seven games available at the Japanese launch on December 10th. That said, it had also claimed that Ghost Recon would be among them - and that's since slipped.

In other words, we're not quite sure when DOA and Halo fans will be able to wrap their thumbs around Spartan - or even how and where she's made available in the game - but as soon as we hear something we'll let you know.

I'm a HALO noob so excuse the ignorance, but how does this character differ from Master Chief?

Don't see much potential for 'jiggling' there.

Wouldn't it really hurt to punch someone who's wearing a suit of armour?

/waits for one of arnies friends to remark how old this is, and how they had it posted on their *ahem* awesome forum a week ago.

    Sweet.
So much better than Soul Calibur 2's weak rendition of Spawn, at least.

    :) By name only...

Well ok.. if you are a Halo purist.... Spartan 058 is Kelly from the Halo books. She is super fast I seem to remember, but since this is Spartan 458 (or is that 4 a typo?) we have no idea who she is or what her special "skills" are.

BTW MC is known for his very strong tactical sense... he is not the strongest or fastest of the Spartans. Oh yeah.. MC is Spartan John-117

Since all Spartans wear the same armor... they all look the same ;) She will probably have an alternative outfit that will show off some bouncing? :p

All I can possibly say is that the Spartan model looks very Halo 2-esqe, which leads me to believe that Bungie can make Master Chief look a hellva lot better than the simple, bland and cut-clean design of the lady model.

    Where is the detail?!

Don't see much potential for 'jiggling' there.
DOA games have like 15+ unlockable costumes for the female chars (and about 5-10 ish on average for the male ones) So I imagine we're going to find out what they wear under that armour in great detail :o)

/one of only 2 games that I'll be getting at launch (fingers crossed)

I would love to play as a Hunter, or an Elite, anything but the obvious one!

Edit: Oh, and Cortana, of course......

Cortana would have convinced me, but instead we get a female MC-clone?

    ...

No thanks guys. I'll wait for the occassion when some thought, logic and originality wins through.

Seems to me the only way to tell if that MC character is female is to get a vet to flip them upside down.
  • mastertigurius #18 7 years ago

This tilted me even further towards the edge of buying DOA4....now I only have to try the game myself. When I've done that, chances are that I'm buying it.

Its been said already.. but.. that's a girl? pah..
