CoD 4 PC demo this week

Thursday, specifically.

Infinity Ward will be releasing a PC demo for Call of Duty 4 on Thursday at around 5pm UK time.

It will premiere on Yahoo Games (boo! hiss!), although official site Charlie Oscar Delta should be updated with various download locations as they become available.

Unfortunately there is no word on the 360 or PS3 versions, although Activision expects to have an official statement on their whereabouts tomorrow.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is due out on 9th November in Europe.

Pop over to our Call of Duty 4 gamepage for all of our coverage to date.

Excellent. This should replace the CoD4 beta nicely.

Yeah. If you have a high end computer. But I would rather see this demo on the 360.

What's the recommended specs for this game?

I would encourage any PC fence-sitters to try this, the beta was a blast.

Ooooo nice mite dwnload this, too many games not enuff time with the 360.
Skate is sucking every spare minute i have. Only 1 level and 1 hour multiplayer of halo3 done because of it.

Wow, didn't know this was coming so soon!

I'll play the demo, but the full game will have to wait until after Ep2 and Crysis now.

So many good PC games released/releasing soon. I've had to shelve World in Conflict and Bioshock too - two games I'd been looking forward to for months.

How does this compare with BF2? I really enjoyed the unlock aspects of that and 2142.
I wasn't drawn to CoD multiplayer but this is certainly looking good.

    Can't wait, PC CoD FTW!
  • Skurmedel #13 4 years ago

TriggerHippie it really isn't comparable to BF2, since there isn't any vehicles (that I know of), but the infantry combat is so much better and it looks great. The unlocks system is pretty good although in need of polishing, and compared to the Battlefield series implementation this one's vast.

The demo will be the bog mission. Can't wait to try firing the Javelin at some tanks. (Assuming this demo is also coming for the 360).

    System requirements?
  • TagemandBagem #16 4 years ago

Shader 2.0 or you can't play it as far as I know. Bummer but you have to update eventually.

Good news. TBH I find the vehicles get in the way in BF2. CoD4 looks like the one to make a convert of me :)

Do you mean 3.0? Because certainly a sub-2.0 card couldn't run this anyway.
  • UncleLou #20 4 years ago

Just checked it - yes, it's 3.0. I blame Ati for selling cards without 3.0 support for far too long - it's causing people all kinds of trouble now.
  • TagemandBagem #21 4 years ago

I originally put 3.0 then changed it to 2.0 in a fit of stupidity. I need a new video card in any case and this will probably be the game to push me into buying one. Maybe a BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB because watercooling is "hawt".

    I'm assuming these are genuine:

    “Recommended Specs”

CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core or better is recommended
RAM: 1GB for XP; 2GB for Vista is recommended
Harddrive: 8GB of free hard drive space
Video card: 3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better

    “Required (min) Specs”

    CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.4 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 2800+ processor or any 1.8Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported
RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista)
Harddrive: 8GB of free hard drive space
    Video card (generic): NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 6600 or better or ATI(R) Radeon(R) 9800Pro or better
Once you guys download the demo on the PC and play be sure to stop back by and let me know what you think. This is the first time anyone besides press is getting their hands on Single Player so I'm anxious to hear your guys thoughts and reactions!

Just finished playing it on my crappy Radeon X300 shader 2.0 card. Low settings obviously but 30FPS and it looks great. Gameplay is intense to say the least. Go now and download if you aren't already!

Infinity Ward decided that MW3 will immediately follow the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Every country is under attack, the press won't like Call of Duty: MW3 direction. Hopefully the new Modern Warfare 3 weapons, perks and killstreaks will make up for it!
