BioShock Challenge Rooms priced
One PS3 package for six quid.
2K Games has said that the downloadable Challenge Rooms for BioShock PS3 will cost GBP 6.29.
There are three of these rooms, remember, but they will arrive as a single pack on 20th November on the PlayStation Store.
The Challenge Rooms, exclusive to PS3, offer plenty of unseen content and tasks to accomplish. They add up to well over an hour of gameplay on the first run-through, and are built to be replayable.
Tasks are tough and based on using limited resources to achieve a goal, such as rescuing a Little Sister on a Ferris Wheel, taking down a Big Daddy, or besting a staggered arena-style onslaught of Rapture baddies.
Check back tomorrow for our hands-on impressions of the Challenge Rooms.

Any chance of a tiny miniature baby review EG staff?

And I agree that PS3 owners seem to be getting the shaft here. They should have been thrown in with the PS3 version of the full game and then charged for on the 360.

The PS3 waited a year for an inferior version. I think that warrants these scraps from the table being given away for free.

I was always under the impression we were paying new price for a year old game because these were on the disc. Then it was made clear they're DLC, but of course after the wait they could make us pay for them.
Of course they're also a business, so a token fee wouldn't be out of the question. But £6.29? More than Super Stardust HD? More than any PSone game? More than the majority of full PSN games?
I'll repeat my first sentiments - FUCK OFF.

I was always planning to get the PS3 version of Bioshock, but this philosophy of deliberatly holding back content for the purposes of paid dlc means they've lost a sale. I'll just pick up the PC or 360 version instead for about half the price.

Oh and Les, do you have to put a fanboy slant on even PS3 posts? You know for sure that MS paid to keep this off PS3 for a year?

I know i'm over exagerating prices/time scales a tad.. but my point stands..

LOL. Obviously not.

Grand total of 1 hour of gameplay for "only" 6,50 pounds is close to price of good arcade titles like SSHD

Because the extra content costs far less then, lets say 1/7 of the full game, to develop because it uses almost everything that was developed for the original game.

Still releasing this DLC so close to release and when it was talked about as being part of the release is just very poor of them.

I think if it doesn't sell well they will assume there just wasn't a demand for it and may not create anymore, which may be an incorrect assumption. If they lower the price at a later date I still wouldn't expect it to sell too well as they'll have missed their marketing opportunity. I think this may be a case were they'll make less money in the long run by being greedy initially.
Of course this is all guess work on my behalf but that's my 2 cents.

Since when have gamers cared about how much something cost to develop?

thanks for your 2 cents. The thing that is really pissing me off about this DLC issue, is the "Downloaded Content" section in Bioshock's main menu. This shows me that 2K were out to squeeze us ps3 customers for every penny we have. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrows review.

NO!
Hot shots DLC is done differently, you download the courses/characters via the latest patch and unlock them with a 100kb key in the PSN store, that's why patches take so long to download and that's how people who havent bought the DLC can see and hear the new characters in matchplay/stroke matches.

Question is, is it any good?
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Sorry, don't see what is fanboyish about that, says more about you than me TBH.

Gotta give it another go Les it really is a good game that draws you in.
As for the challenge rooms, I thought that was a free extra. A bit naughty that. If it were me I wouldn't bother out of spite, still buy the game itself PS3 owners it's worth it just ask Les!

He can't stand any game that isn't on his wii it seems. Kinda voids the first part of your argument.

I have given the PS3 demo a go (had played the PC demo already) and it does absolutely nothing for me, except for the audio. It's a clumsy FPS with a setting that I don't care about. I'd rather re-play HL2 or Resistance if I have to play a shooter. But that's just my opinion.

I'm not arguing for or against the price of the game or DLC, but the developers/publishers are entitled to charge what they feel is justified for their products, regardless of when they were created. Equally, you have the right not to buy what they produce if you feel it is too expensive.
