Battlefield 1943 out next week News
Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese
EA has announced that Battlefield 1943 will be released on Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday and PlayStation Network next Thursday.
A PC release, remember, will appear sometime in September.
Battlefield 1943, which costs 1200 MSP (GBP 10.20 / EUR 13.96) on Live and GBP 10 on PSN, re-imagines Battlefield 1942 - the game the entire series was built upon.
BF 1943, however, has been designed to be more accessible, so classes have been trimmed to three and there's a gentler difficulty curve to ease you in. DICE promises plenty of depth too, and has used all the latest technology to make sure everything looks nice and plays well.

Assuming the game is a success (and I expect it will be), I'm sure DICE will release DLC, and classic maps are usually pretty high on the request list, so you might get lucky. |

@Spekingur thinking about the European BF1942 maps they might be more tricky to get the game play right with the new destroyable buildings and terrain. Think about how Berlin would play if you could knock down all the buildings? Even if they limit the destruction to BF:BC levels on buildings I still see it being a more tricky proposition to port. Think about how Market Garden would play if you could knock down the bridges?
They should of course still make every effort to add the European maps I am just really thinking about why they might not have added them. |

Still think Xbox and Ps3 should be in diffrent factions, gaming against each other. Then we would finally get to the end of the fanwars and proclaim a winner! ;)

Yeh, its got its pros and cons with no FF, I am suprised they implemented no FF as there has always been FF in BF, but it may be because of the more casual friendly approach they are taking with it being an arcade game.
Hopefully it will lean towards pro more, but with the amount of casual that will buy this it might just save your neck a number of times from idiotic team members trying to tk for a plane/tank etc. or just trying to tk for the hell of it. |

In what way does "£10. Cheaper than expected. I'll have a piece of that." justify having any negative rep against it at all?! (It was -1, but I've just zeroed it). I think some people just don't understand how it's meant to work. |

I suppose it's a folorn hope for us Windows 7 users that this won't rely on Punkbuster. If it does, we're screwed as PB simply won't run on 7 at the moment and Evenbalance are being distinctly prickly about supporting "beta OSes".

A definite day one purchase, though I'm gonna miss the Engineer class. I think the Sniper now has TNT, but does anyone know if repairing vehicles is still in the game at all?

well the weapons listed a few posts above show that the infantry have Wrenches,i have seen videos of them using this as a melee weapon,but i am guessing its to fix vehicles also(but not 100% sure) and yeah like you said the snipers have TnT |

Apparently you can't go prone (in a game with big maps and sniper rifles) and there's no more driving the ships either (in a game set around islands... so far I think it's a dumbed down load of shit. Certainly not the Battlefield that won my heart back in 2002.
