BBFC reveals Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition release date

Konfirmation?

The Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition will be released on 17th February 2012.

That's according to UK age-ratings body the BBFC, which handed out an 18 certificate this afternoon.

The BBFC only mentioned Xbox 360, and didn't discuss the game's content beyond "contains strong bloody violence".

We presume, however, that Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition will be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360.

We also presume it will include all DLC released so far for Mortal Kombat 9, hence the "Komplete" part of the name.

Publisher Warner Bros. was unavailable for comment.

Mortal Kombat 9 sold 3 million copies as of September, making the series reboot and debut Warner Bros. MK outing a success.

Eurogamer's Mortal Kombat 9 review awarded 7/10.

At least it's not releasing in the same year the original title did... Beyond that, I've taken to waiting for complete editions for most titles lately. Retailer-specific pre-order incentives and DLC in general can be such a headache sometimes.

As someone who doesn't have the ability or time to learn the hardcore japanese fighters, I thought this MK was nigh on perfect. Plenty of allowance on the stick to key in moves, slick combos that made sense and a wide variety of playstyles with different characters.

There are no excuses for any fighting game not having a proper and involved story mode now as well. Absolutely brilliant.

My one gripe would eb that at high difficulties and higher up the challenge tower, there seemed to be some really nasty cases of telepathic AI. That could just be poor player paranoia though.

I've wanted this for ages as I loved the demo but it still hasn't come down in price, maybe this will launch at a budget price point.

Definitely would have bought a PC version.

    Kouldn't be bothered...

Loved this, but has there really been enough DLC to warrant another edition?
  • bad09 #7 6 months ago

    @v.profane

Yeah, SF4 is aweseome as are others on PC. Shame, Boon to said he liked the idea, still missing Kollection to. Oh well Csapcom has SFxT coming.

    / goes back to SSF4

@wilzon, It hasn't come down in price for a reason, it's packed with content and it's a great game, forget EG's piss poor 7, it's one of the best games of 2011

But yeh there isn't enough DLC to warrant a complete edition, unless they add some extras for it.

    Couldn't give a krap

@lavalant I don't think there's enough of a variance between a lot of the fighters. Styles in Street fighter 4 are much more different, and require more style to get used to.

A 7-8 is just about right on Mortal Kombat. Though SF4 could learn a lot from Mortal Kombat's structures storyline, very involving.

You posted here. You bothered yourself

There's no reason to not buy it now. Sold.

This was a jolly good game; the level of execution is very low, so it becomes more tatical at a lower level than a lot of the Capcom fighters, defo my surprise game of 2011

Considering that one of the DLC is still MIA on the PS3 because it hasn't passed QA one can presume that that particular pack may never see a release in the same way that Shivering Isles never saw a UK PSN release, because by the time the developer can properly package the file for download they've got their "Gold Edition" together and there's simply no point in continuing on the DLC.

Didn't get Mortal Kombat as I'm not a beat'em guy but my mates that are love it and will be disappointed if they have to buy the whole game again just to get that last bit of DLC, believe it was the Klassic Arkade Kollection or somesuch?
