Serious Sam 3 October release delayed

"We decided it needed one extra month."

Serious Sam 3: BFE won't be ready for 18th October, developer Croteam has announced.

The game, a futuristic Egypt-set shooter, has been delayed until "mid-November", CTO Alen Ladavac revealed on the Serious Sam 3 forum.

"In the past few days, we did some reassessments, based both on internal results, and on beta testing feedback, and determined that we would want to do some more gameplay tuning, bugfixing and optimization - more than would be possible within the given timeframe," Ladavac said.

"So we decided it needed one extra month of development time. You will know details later in the day, but for now - one month it is - one month of extra tuning and polish that Serious Sam 3 deserves if we really love it and want it to be a great game."

    Sure beats a month of bug-fixing after release. More of this, please.

    Not that I disagree in principle, but let's just wait and see what state the game is actually in upon release before giving too much credit.

    @vamos

    I agree about the colours, part of what I liked about the old SS games was the cartoony visuals. This is getting closer to generic shooter visuals.

    Well that kills off my interest and further annoys me about the industries attraction with November >_>

    So it being released in Nov kills off any of your interest in the game? You do realise surely, that you don't have to buy a game on launch day right?

    I've had too much experience over the years, and especially this year, to subscribe to the opinion that it's a bad thing to delay a game. If the game isn't ready, then it isn't ready. Better to risk the ire of the preorderers with a delay than risk the ire of everybody when you release a buggy game 'on time'.

    Again, you don't have to bloody well buy in November. It always be there for you to buy another time, with the added bonus of it likely being cheaper!
