Nintendo eShop update - 15/09/11

MotoHeroz! Mega Man! Cosmos! Kyotokei!

This Thursday's eShop update is all about WiiWare racer MotoHeroz, crafted by the lovely hands of Trials HD creator RedLynx.

MotoHeroz blends the essence of Trials HD with bright and colourful graphics, plus juicy same-screen multiplayer for four. The latter has you scrabbling over friends' buggies as you fight your way to the front of the pack.

On 3DS, Nintendo rummages through its Game Boy catalogue to relaunch Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge on Virtual Console.

Dr. Wily was the first Mega Man game on handheld, and mixed platforming from Mega Man and Mega Man 2.

Also on the eShop this week: Cosmos X2 for DSiWare and Kyotokei for WiiWare - both side-scrolling shooters. Cosmos brings space-set alien action, while Kyotokei is bird-flying fantasy fare, with evil fairies and goblins and everything.

Nintendo eShop update: 15/09/11

  • Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (3DS) - £3.50/€4
  • Cosmos X2 (DSiWare) - £1.50/€2, 200 DSi
  • Kyotokei (WiiWare) - 500 Wii Points
  • MotoHeroz (WiiWare) - 1500 Wii Points

Where are the original 3D games, Nintendo? We have got one so far...

No idea why MotoHeroz has to be 1500. Since I'm a huge Trials fan I have no doubt that this could easily be well worth the money but it still hurts that it so much more expensive than other WiiWare stuff.

Anyone know if Wily's Revenge is any good? I never played any of the portable Mega Man games but am a big fan of the NES titles.

What, Steel Diver and Nintendogs and Catz aren't good enough for you? Maybe you'd prefer another gray/brown fps?

Sarcasm doesn't work too well on the internet... Either that or people reallylike Steel Diver and Nintendogs and Catz!

The only GB Megaman I ever played was Megaman II. I loved it. Was Wily's Revenge any good?

Comment #6: yeah all the mega man gameboy games are good.. same basic template. I would love mmV which was the only unique gb one not based on earlier nes games, I believe, but they prob won't release that on virtual console till 2015.
Comment #5: maybe they meant there are no 3DSWare games apart from a couple altered nes classics. all the new eshop releases seem to be dsiware or gameboy virtual console.

Wii: Gifted to my nieces and nephews last year.

3DS: Gathering dust on a shelf in my bedroom.

Give us some games we give a fuck about Nintendo!

Oh Christ! Wily's Revenge was my first exposure to Mega Man, I thought all MM games were as brutally difficult as that one. After that I wondered why people called MMX one of the harder MMs, it's really easy compared to MMWR.

All the Mega Man titles got easier and easier. When I played through the Mega Man Collection on the cube two years ago about 90% of the time it took me to complete it was spent on Mega Man 1. Mega Man 2 was just as challenging but seemed a bit fairer and after that the titles were incredibly easy. With #5 and #6 not even the boss order was relevant anymore, everyone of them can easily be finished off with the regular blaster.

Kyotokei sounds like a sequel to Kolibri on the 32X. God I'm such a massive nerd.

MotoHeroz looks decent, may well get a purchase from me. 3D Pixel Racers was pretty decent last week. Some odd design choices (no way to pause/quit races) but a very pretty and responsive little kart racer. Good value for 500 points!

    @FenderMaster

I was going to mention Steel Diver. It looked nice but didn't last very long. Also I don't think Nintendogs + Cats counts as an original game, but good try. The waiting continues I guess.
