Brink PC system requirements

Steamworks features named, too.

You'll need a nippy processor to power the PC version of Brink: the very least you'll get away with is a dual core.

A GeForce 8800 GS or ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro are the oldest graphics cards acceptable.

Full system requirements are below. Note that you'll obviously need an internet connection to play this, an online shooter.

The Steamworks tools used by Brink are Achievements, VOIP, Challenge Leaderboards, Valve's Anti-Cheat, Dedicated Servers (hooray), Friends Support and the Steam Cloud.

Minimum system requirements

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • NVIDIA 8800GS / AMD Radeon HD 2900 Pro
  • Windows XP (SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
  • 8GB free HDD space

Recommended system requirements

  • Intel Quad Core i5
  • 3GB RAM
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 / AMD Radeon HD 5850
  • Windows XP (SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
  • 8GB free HDD space

Hooray for Steamworks. Alas, my computer is not good enough. PS3 version it is then.
  • Slikz #2 1 year ago

    Extreme settings it is then...

    As usual.

Wonder if it's quad core optimised. I'll be getting this though.

Also, EG, please sort out your fucking registration procedure, it's obviously not good enough. I don't need any more handbags.

    Were crysis2 requirements this high?

Who would buy shit from these spam retailers above? (unless deleted already)

Those are inconsistent with the game's visuals. The game doesn't look that good, and if shown footage is of any indication, maps aren't large enough to warrant such a strain on the CPU or RAM.

Then again, this is id4 tech. It's by far not scalable, and is damn outdated by now. At least Source is still tweaked to this day by the company that developed it.

@Carlitoswagon: They were about the same, slightly less demanding in terms of CPU but more slightly more demanding in terms of GPU.

So glad, it has Steamworks. Crysis 2 has been a nightmare with signing in, redeem codes and stat tracking using Gamespy. Honestly, who uses gamespy nowadays?

My Pc i think just about fails spec wise for this but I'm only interested in this game if it has a decent single player i don't like multiplayer only fps games so much.

Wow something juicy for my PC for once...lets hope the other 3 cores of my processor still work after I blow the dust off them.

The great console-tech repression is coming to an end! Huzzah!

I'm interested to see how this game turns out. I cant think of another title in recent memory that has given me such mixed feelings from in game footage - sometimes is looks interesting other times it looks extremely mediocre. I'm predicting 7.5-8's on the review but am crossing my fingers it turns out better.

use arguably horrid art style so its easier to render market-expected quality visuals, and then go and require the same specs as CRYSIS 2, without even featuring much in gameplay other than a child of COD and TF2....neither of which is this demanding by a long shot.
  • infernox1 #12 1 year ago

darn i have a core 2 duo 2.2ghz which has served me well for over 4 years. time to upgrade then.
  • Chufty #13 1 year ago

These specs aren't *that* bad. The minimum required graphics cards are 3 or 4 years old and a Core 2 Duo processor costs peanuts now.

A bit of wise shopping and you can enjoy all these titles with superior graphics for pretty damned cheap.

Yes tankboi hooray indeed, you are freed of the tyranny of getting very high framerates and unreasonable levels of AA on your rubbish looking console port, half the audience is freed of the tyranny of running it at all, and a further 35% are freed of the tyranny of it looking better than a C64 game. Also in 2 years time you'll be freed of the tyranny of getting better performance than the 360 version unless you are also freed of the tyranny of not blowing another £600 on a new system.

I want games again that have you shuddering in fear of what you will have to upgrade to run the thing. I liked the look of this game and have been following it, but I'm not sure now as there are a few other things on the go. I think this is a review buy or leave for me.

9 I'm in - 8 ill get in at the end of year sale - 7 or less I'll get it at next winters sale when its 3quid on game of the day special.... maybe!
