Mortal Kombat UK release date

Tiny shift.

Brutal PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 fighting game Mortal Kombat will launch in the UK on Thursday 21st April, Warner Bros. has confirmed to Eurogamer.

That's three days later than the previously announced 18th April UK release date.

It launches in the US on 19th April.

Developer NetherRealm Studios is working with original creator Ed Boon to breathe new life into the IP.

Among the fighters confirmed for the new game are Cyrax, Ermac, Jade, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Nightwolf, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Sektor, Shao Kahn, Sindel, Sonya, and Sub-Zero.

God of War gore-lover Kratos pops up in the PlayStation 3 version, too.

Meh, that's not too bad, it's not like it's been pushed back a month or something.

Still really looking forward to getting my fatality infused fix!

"Tiny shift"? Maybe I'm not getting this one, but I expect more from a Eurogamer tagline these days.

Possibly something like "Not a fatality" or something?

Another game on the To-Buy list between now and June 2011. So many quality games coming up, love it :D

For me this game has a lot to prove. Never been a fan of MK as I think it is always been violence over substance. Always hated the characters and movement, like bad cosplayers that had shit themselves.

Really looking forward to this for reason I can't quite explain to myself.

Still too close to MvsC3 being released for me, haven't got time to put in on another fighter. I hope it’s decent though as I used to love the MK series, MK2 still stands as one of my fave games ever.

A day before Portal 2. Isn't thursday an unusual day to launch a game?

@andywilkie35 yes there are some really shit mortal kombat games but this one easily looks like the best MK game they've ever made. I give them benefit of the doubt, it isn't automatically shit because the others are. No weird gimmicks or superhero crossovers or complicated controls this time... just pure fan service combined with deep gameplay designed by pro tournament players. MK is a very exciting property if done right, we all pray for a good MK game like we pray for a good Sonic game, some shitty experiments accepted along the way.

A day before Portal 2. Isn't thursday an unusual day to launch a game?

Friday 22nd is Good Friday and a religious celebrated day. Launching it then would ensure a shitstorm of apocalyptic proportions in the tabloids with the force of complaining moral majorities opening the portals to the realm of Outworld and due to the sheer energy of Mary Whitehouse spinning in her grave, finally enables Shao Kahn to resurrect his queen, Sindel, to invade and take over Earthrealm.

Unusual, yes. But the Elder Gods command it because they don't need their wives nagging them about whats in the Mail this morning. They get enough grief about Tarkatarn immigrants anyway...
