Two Worlds II UK cargo "wrecked"

Delayed again! "I can't believe it!"

A large portion of Two Worlds II stock has been "wrecked" on its journey from China to the UK, publisher TopWare has revealed to Eurogamer.

The result? Yet another delay - this time to 25th February.

Yesterday, Eurogamer brought you the news that Two Worlds II had been pushed back from a 4th February release to 18th February in the UK. And that was after a nudge from a 25th January launch to 4th February.

"We just received the container from China with the Collector's Edition and other components and they are wrecked," TopWare managing director James Seaman informed Eurogamer.

"Several components were just a total wreck and unacceptable for us to give out to our fans.

"We are printing some of these in Europe now and the boxes are being air freighted from China.

"Officially, launch is the 25th, and this is final.

"I cannot believe this but it is really happening!" he added.

Two Worlds II had, once upon a time, been an autumn 2010 title. In fact, Two Worlds II was an autumn 2010 title in mainland Europe, where many versions of the games packed a complimentary, fully-voiced English language option.

SouthPeak - then UK publisher of Two Worlds II - held back the launch to avoid a jam-packed autumn season.

It's a disappointing saga that detracts from what has been crowned an accomplished and ambitious RPG adventure. There's a beefy multiplayer component, which is unusual, and the crafting system is brilliant. And if there can be any positive drawn from the slippery release-date slope, it's that TopWare now has time to make good on the promise of a patch to fix combat issues like blocking and levelling in multiplayer.

What did Eurogamer think of Two Worlds II? "There is real innovation here, and there are some ballsy forays into game-styles that are way outside the standard tick-list of features for the genre, both online and off. There's also a great deal of absorbing content to enjoy, not to mention consistent, meaningful progression, creative quests, and empowering customisation systems that let you craft your own rewards form a plethora of resources."

Amateur hour, this game is going to get lost now under KZ3 and Bulletstorm
  • RealityCheque #2 1 year ago

Man that's harsh. Wrecked by what?

I think they're taking the piss now. Surely :D

Maybe i should put my still sealed German Collector's Edition (multi-lingual) on ebay...
  • DUFFMAN5 #5 1 year ago

Such a shame, they have a great product (I have been playing UK version for 6 odd weeks) but I do not see what loyalty they expect from people when the said people are being jerked around so much.

Surely this doesn't affect the PC digital download version.
  • yoomazir #7 1 year ago

  • Canyarion #8 1 year ago

    It's got dinosaurs.

@madgerald in theory no, but they would never release the digital version before the retail one. It would infuriate the retailers.

Train accident? Ship with merchandise got taken by pirates? The container was shipped on top of radio-active waste?

Is EG holding a contest to see which writer can have the longest links? Seriously, it looks messy EG (and it doesn't help your SEO anyway). Stop it.

Anyway... I've been wanting to play this. Not a pre-order worthy title at all but certainly something I would have grabbed from the shop on the way home from work (the original was campy, dumb fun). But now it's running way too close to the busy spring season. Dawn of War Ret is out the week after... Dragon Age after that... Deus Ex at some point (April I guess)... Witch 2 in May. Sorry Two Worlds 2, you missed the gap. I'll pick you up when you hit the bargin bin now.

I got my PC copy from a third-party retailer on Amazon on Saturday but it is still disappointing to read of yet *another* delay for people in the UK waiting for the 360 and PS3 versions. Every one week delay pushes the game nearer to Dragon Age 2's release in March, which is surely going to have an affect on the sales of the game? Personally, I think the game should have had a worldwide release before Christmas when it was released in Europe because, as far as RPGs went, it didn't have much in the way of direct competition.

    @Norsoslim

Like they all appeal to the same audience.

It's as if the gods themselves don't want people to have a physical copy of the game. What next, meteor destroys topware HQ?

This is interesting, since all previous games by these people were bug fests wrapped in a little gameplay. I've learned to never buy this at launch time, and I feel sorry already for the console people that shell out for this.

I got pretty wrecked the other night and was late for work. So I can see where he's coming from.

Nicely illustrates the pointlessness of sending digital content packed into boxes across the sea in huge boats.

It can be moved more quickly, more cheaply, more reliably and more responsibly over the internet. The sooner we can move to that model the better IMO.

Looking forward to the first walkthroughs from Somalia then.

"The Kraken ate my shipping container"

They have done themselves no favours with this, avoiding last years window because of over crowding, now they release it between Bulletstorm, MvsC3 and Kz3.

This could be lies or whatever but if so... Shit feel bad for them
  • FortysixterUK #24 1 year ago

I demand to see photo's of the wrecked cargo container with all the games splling out onto the deck of the ship....NOW !
They are sooooo gonna lose out to some other releases if they don't get their finger out.

  • darleysam #26 1 year ago

While it's not a game I was interested in, that sucks out loud for them. Really hope there's a hefty insurance payout on that.
  • Huntcjna #27 1 year ago

This sounds extremely shifty to be honest. Southpeak reported (via VG247) yesterday that US version was selling out and they were printing more copies ASAP. Any chance that the UK launch was delayed to allow for additional stock to be shipped to the US and this is just a nicely designed apology cover or am I just being cynical?
  • it_is_ricky_dee #28 1 year ago

Doubt they would be able to use UK stock in the US because it would have PEGI stickers all over it. Also, they would manufacture American stock in America, not China - I guess.
  • NewbieZilla #29 1 year ago

If this was Dragon Age 2 I'd be upset. Two Worlds 2? Was anyone really so into that game that they were eager for the sequel?
  • kinth #30 1 year ago

ive been able to buy this in the UK since december :S a local shop near me has it on the 360 and the PC. And this is the third time since i saw it on the shelf of that shop that ive read about the delay of this game in the UK :p and no its not a pre-order box.
  • lennon #31 1 year ago

Can I actually buy this from Amazon.de if I am in the uk?
  • immateriaux #32 1 year ago

    Yes you can lennon.

Given TopWare only recently took over the responsibility to publish this in the UK recently, think a lot of you above are being assholes about this.
  • Xardan #33 1 year ago

Wait...this must be some kind of joke. How many times has it been delayed now?
  • s3kShUn8 #34 1 year ago

"Officially, launch is the 25th, and this is final."

They've said this about dates in the past and look where its gotten them. I really hope they can pull this out and release it this time or else they'll end up being known as the publisher who cried wolf.
  • bonker #35 1 year ago

I imported from Germany for my XBOX 360 before Xmas - thank god ...

Clearly, Topware are just straight lying here and I'm not impressed - shipping containers really don't get wrecked that often for pretty obvious reasons ...

They set out to use Europe to clean out all the bugs from day one before fixing them for the US/UK release and that's gone on longer than they anticipated - making up stuff like this makes them look complete tards ...
  • ReonSarpati #36 1 year ago

I was looking forward to this too (UK) but like many others might wait for Dragon Age 2. I usually wait to buy games cheaper after release unlesss I *really* want to play them. Think I will be saving my full price purchase for DA2 and maybe getting this secondhand in between playing that and waiting for Skyrim in November.
