Following a surprise announcement in the latest Nintendo Direct Mini, both the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition - Collector's Set are now available to order. Here's where you can secure a copy ahead of the game's 29th May release date on Nintendo Switch.

Originally released on the Nintendo Wii in Japan back in 2010 to huge critical acclaim, eager fans petitioned for the open-world JRPG to see release in Europe and the US. Their wishes were granted in 2011 and 2012, respectively. A successful 3DS port then followed in 2015, before a fully-fledged sequel came to the Switch in 2017.

Now, fans of the original will be able to play through the game again on Switch later this year. Meanwhile, newcomers to the series will find in the perfect opportunity to experience the unique story and real-time action-based battle system for the first time. This Definitive Edition does more than just improve the game's visuals - it also features a remastered soundtrack, tweaks the battle and inventory UI, plus a whole new epilogue entitled Future Connected.

As for the contents of the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Collector's Set, that varies (quite drastically) by region. In the UK and Europe, it comes with a copy of the game, a 250-page artbook, a SteelBook, a vinyl featuring the Monado printed on the sleeve and a poster. All of which you can see above. As for the US? Well, you just get the artbook. And nothing else. Sorry!
