South African authorities have arrested a man following the world's first PlayStation 3 jailbreak raid.

The Commercial Crime Unit of the South African Police Service raided a facility in a residential property in Parktown, Johannesburg, arrested the man and confiscated hardware and software, as reported by egamer.co.za.

"Various state of the art computers, circumvention software packages, jailbreak USB devices, PS3 consoles and hard drives were seized," the South African police said.

"In addition, fake PS2 games, original PS3 games, believed to be used as masters and documentation were seized."

The suspect will remain in custody until his court appearance.

The PS3 jailbreak is the work of a group of hackers and George "Geohot" Hotz, who settled out of court with Sony earlier this year after the PS3 manufacturer sued him.
