Steam revamp live on Monday

Valve's PC shop "brand new" again.

Valve's overhaul of the Steam user interface will be rolled out this Monday, 26th April. The developer hopes the service feels like "a brand new Steam".

The changes have been "put through their paces" by testers for two months. In a post on the Steam website, Valve extended its "thanks" to all who helped along the way.

"The beta has been a huge success. The number of you who participated exceeded all our expectations, and so far you've created 25 thousand posts to the beta user forums. As a result of your participation, the Steam team has had the feedback required to make the new Steam client more reliable and useful than ever," said the developer.

Incidentally, the beta is still open, and while you may not alter features at this stage, you will get a glimpse at Steam's future and ensure most of the downloading is done before the gold-rush on Monday.

The Steam update aims to beef up various features like how friends interact and how news gathered and displayed, as well as address usability across the board. The result should be a prettier, snappier and more coherent service.
