Shantae and the Seven Sirens is coming to PC and consoles in May

And Part 2 arrives on Apple Arcade today.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens, the newest entry in developer WayForward's much-loved sometimes-Metroidvania-esque platform series, will be making its way to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC on 28th May.

Shantae started life on the Game Boy Colour all the way back in 2002, and Seven Sirens marks the fifth outing for the series, following on from Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.

Seven Sirens, which initially debuted as an Apple Arcade exclusive last September, follows Shantae's adventures across a tropical island after her friends go missing, and sees the series' return to the Metroidvania formula of the first three games.

In contrast to 2016's Half-Genie Hero, which adopted a more level-driven approach, Seven Sirens features an interconnected world that slowly opens up as Shantae gains the ability to transform into new forms. It sports the same striking art style as its gorgeous predecessor, and there's even a card collecting mechanic, used to tailor Shantae's powers as players see fit.

Additionally, WayForward has announced that Apple Arcade subscribers, who only had access to the the first half of Shantae and the Seven Sirens when it launched on iOS last year, can finally play the full version as of today. Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC players will also get the complete experience when Seven Sirens launches digitally for $29.99 USD (around £24) on 28th May. A physical release is also on the way.
