Nintendo looking into Wii remote strap issue

Nintendo is working on ways to try and help people not accidentally lob their Wii remote controls into expensive objects/other people's faces.

"Some people are getting a lot more excited than we'd expected," president Satoru Iwata told the Foreign Correspondents Club this week.

"We need to better communicate to people how to deal with Wii as a new form of entertainment."

The Wii remote has so far gone down very well in the US and Japan, but problems tend to arise thanks to the relatively flimsy strap used to fasten it to the player's wrist.

That and the fact that some people are just complete mentalists.

And so as Nintendo investigate, others mourn, and for some reason I still end up twirling mine around haphazardly, in much the same way I once broke my SingStar microphones. Oh well.

Nintendo Wii is due out tomorrow, 8th December, in Europe.
