Mario All-Stars sells out, reprint possible

eBay asking price rockets in US.

The limited edition Wii reissue of Super Mario All-Stars has completely sold out in the US, leaving Nintendo considering a second print run.

Nintendo PR boss Marc Franklin told Wired, "We are gratified by the consumer response to this limited-edition product, which we created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game on NES.

"Because of the strong response, we are exploring the option of bringing this item back at a later date."

The platforming collection, released to tie in with Mario's 25th anniversary celebrations, is currently selling for over $80 a pop on eBay.

There doesn't seem to be much of a shortage in the UK yet however. Amazon are currently offering the game for just £17.99. Still, might be a good idea to squirrel a few copies away just in case, if only so your great-grandkids can get the portly plumber on Antiques Roadshow in 50 years time.

The reissue, which includes a soundtrack CD and retrospective booklet, scored a hearty 8/10 from Eurogamer's Simon Parkin when it arrived on shelves back in December.
