Cliff Bleszinski teases new career news - and confirms it's "not game related at all"

Cliff Bleszinski has teased he'll possibly have "career related" news to share soon - and confirmed it's "not game related at all".

When Boss Key shut down earlier this year, Bleszinski said he'd "take some time off and reflect" but assured fans that "video games will forever be a part of who I am and I hope to make something new again someday". Last month, however, after a heated exchange with a disgruntled fan, Bleszinski said he would "NEVER" make another video game and it seems Bleszinski very much meant what he said.

"Possible new career related news coming soon," Bleszinski tweeted yesterday. "Not game related at all. Cross your fingers for me - this could be a dream gig I've had since a kid."

LawBreakers developer confirms that it's now focussing on "other projects"

Will continue to support the game "in its current state".

Developer Boss Key Productions has announced that it will now be focussing on other projects, following the disappointing performance of its hero shooter LawBreakers.

"Here is the very real truth, which may not come as a surprise", the studio said in a statement posted to its website, "The fact is LawBreakers failed to find enough of an audience to generate the funds necessary to keep it sustained in the manner we had originally planned for and anticipated".

To put some loose numbers on that, the game's peak player count on Steam in March was 25, with only three players online at the time of writing.

Lawbreakers PS4 launch code hitches and stutters

Digital FoundryLawbreakers PS4 launch code hitches and stutters

UPDATE: Massive improvements in patch 1.04.

UPDATE 9/8/17 3:37pm: Good news for prospective buyers of Boss Key's Lawbreakers. The hitching and stuttering issues that heavily impacted gameplay on launch day are now massively improved. "PS4 players, the @lawbreakers hitching fix is live! Thanks for your understanding. Now go kick some ass," Boss Key announced on Twitter.

The patch notes for update 1.04 cite "hitch improvements" and we can confirm that the frequency of the problem, not to mention the length of the stuttering (now 100ms at its worst) represent a night and day difference from the sub-optimal experience we played yesterday.

Original story: Gravity-defying multiplayer shooter Lawbreakers suffers from profound hitching issues on PlayStation 4, making the game difficult to enjoy at launch. Gameplay on PS4 stutters at critical moments, often ruining one versus one encounters. Meanwhile, our tests reveal that PC runs without any similar problems, based on the limited time we've spent with the title so far.

Cliff Bleszinski reveals LawBreakers PC and PS4 release date

Cliff Bleszinski has announced a release date for LawBreakers on PC and PS4: 8th August. It will cost $29.99/24.99.

A PC beta will run from 28th June to 3rd July. You'll have to head over to the LawBreakers website to sign up for it.

Bleszinski and studio Boss Key clearly hope the lower price point will give LawBreakers a fighting chance alongside a game like Overwatch. Bleszinski even had a little pop at $60 multiplayer-only games when he announced the price on the PC Gaming E3 stage, saying, "None of this $60 multiplayer-only bulls***".
