Blizzard has announced that 0.15 per cent of the world's population is playing World of Warcraft.

The number of players has now topped 10 million (including pay-as-you-go subscribers). Of that number, around 5.5 million players are located in Asia, 2.5 million in North America and 2 million in Europe. COME ON EFIGS WE'RE PLAYING CATCHUP.

"It's very gratifying to see gamers around the world continuing to show such enthusiasm and support for World of Warcraft," said Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime.

"We're always pleased to welcome new players to the game, and we're looking forward to sharing the next major content update with the entire community in the months ahead."

It's been more than three years since WOW debuted. It was the best-selling PC game all around the world in 2005 and 2006, and the second best-selling in 2007 - just behind the Burning Crusade expansion.

Nearly 2.4 million copies of TBC were sold in the first 24 hours after it went on sale, making it the fastest-selling PC game of all time. You can find this and many other fascinating facts in the Guinness World Records - Gamer's Edition, an exciting new book out on 8th February which no one at Eurogamer contributed to or is in any way trying to promote.
