One of the best gaming and streaming microphones is £44 on Cyber Monday

An affordable price for the Razer Seiren X USB streaming microphone.

Black Friday may be over but now it's time for Cyber Monday, and Amazon has some fantastic deals on top-quality USB microphones that should meet the needs of most content creators, streamers and podcast hosts. One of the best deals is the Razer Seiren X, which has 56 per cent off its marked price and is now just £44.

This microphone was released back in 2019 but is still very popular today thanks to its compact design and crisp audio quality. Its discounted price makes it one of the most affordable professional microphones available right now, especially compared to other best-selling USB microphones such as the Blue Yeti X and the RODE NT USB.

The Razer Seiren X features a built-in shock absorber thanks to its shock mount, so you won't have to worry too much about background noise if you're moving it around. That said, it will pick up mouse and keyboard clicks, but there is a mute button on the side of the microphone, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.

As for other important points that are worth mentioning, the Seiren X uses a supercardioid pickup pattern, which essentially means it picks up audio at a tighter angle in front of the mic, rather than around it. The benefits of this are the Seiren X is great for minimising background noise (at certain frequencies) while recording podcasts or streaming your audio, but it's not recommended for recording multiple voices simultaneously, as you need to face the mic directly to get the best results out of it.

Finally, this is a really simple microphone to set up. As it's a USB microphone, you don't need to worry about getting an audio interface and there are no additional drivers or anything else that need installing. The only real downside to this mic is there's no gain or audio mixing controls on it. Other than that, this is a great microphone at a fair price. Due to its compact size, you may want to consider grabbing a boom arm so you can place your mic at an angle that's comfortable and where you can get the most out of it.

The Seiren X should cater for the requirements of most people, but if you want something a bit fancier, you can check out some of the other streaming and gaming mics included in Amazon's Cyber Monday sale.

The Elgato Wave 3, which is also Digital Foundry's best microphone for streaming, is now £99 - down from its RRP of £159. The RODE NT MINI USB microphone is also included in the sale (down to £72) as is the Blue Yeti USB microphone (now £92), which Digital Foundry named the best microphone for recording podcasts.
