Here's when you can play Firewatch on Nintendo Switch

"Soon" is now much sooner.

Campo Santo's Firewatch is coming to Nintendo Switch later this month.

In a tweet earlier today, the developer confirmed the indie hit would be coming to Switch on 17th December, releasing simultaneously across the Americas, Australia, Europe, and Japan.

Firewatch first launched for PC and PlayStation 4 in February 2016, then jumped onto Xbox in September of that same year. We knew it was coming to Switch back in April, and the team told us it had been "stripping much of Firewatch's tech down to the studs and rebuilding it to render the world more quickly, to stream and load faster, and to generally be more responsive" for Nintendo's hybrid system. At the time, though, we were only told it was coming "soon".

Christian Donlan recommended Firewatch in his Eurogamer review, stating it was "a triumph of craft", but the "genuine emotional involvement [...] always keeps you at a slight distance".

Campo Santo's next game is the Indiana Jones-esque adventure In the Valley of the Gods, due for release sometime in 2019.

When her friends were falling in love with soap stars, Vikki was falling in love with video games. She struggles to juggle a fair-to-middling Destiny/Halo addiction and her kill/death ratio is terrible.
