Sony's Uncharted movie now set for summer 2017

But no replacement director yet.

Sony Pictures has pushed back the release date of its long-in-development Uncharted movie until 30th June 2017 thanks, (Variety).

Work on the project has now been ongoing for the best part of a decade, although progress stalled again in June this year after the departure of director Seth Gordon.

At that point, the film had been due for launch in June 2016.

Sony has yet to announce a replacement for Gordon, lock down a final script or confirm any casting details.

The Uncharted project appears to have come close to production several times, although a lead actor for the role of Nathan Drake has never been officially announced.

However, Ted and Transformers: Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg at one point claimed that he was in the frame.

Back in the world of video games, Uncharted developer Naughty Dog is currently working on the series' fourth major installment, A Thief's End, due to launch early next year.
