Destiny beta begins late July for Xbox 360 and Xbox One

A key date.

The closed beta for Destiny will arrive on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in late July, a new trailer spotted by VideoGamer.com has confirmed.

The date is shown at the end of a video that's currently visible on the Xbox One dashboard.

Xbox Live Gold is required to play, small print explains, just as PlayStation users need a PlayStation Plus subscription.

Destiny's beta will arrive first for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on 17th July, which means that Sony's console may have a two-week head start.

Sony has also secured a selection of timed-exclusive extra content, which is expected to remain exclusive to PS3 and PS4 until autumn 2015.

Details of what content will be included - and how long you'll be able to access it for - have yet to announced, but Bungie's official site mentions that you'll be able to try "most major modes and activities".

Beta access will be granted to anyone who has pre-ordered the game.
