It's a boring out-of-court settlement between Zynga and EA

Ville Ville Ville.

"EA and Zynga have resolved their respective claims and have reached a settlement of their litigation in the Northern District of California."

That's a Zynga statement issued in response to the now settled 'Hey your Ville game is just like our Sims Social game!' court case EA brought against Zynga last year.

Who paid who, and how much, isn't publicly known. Gamasutra heard from a source that Zynga was "pleased".

Zynga and EA are the biggest forces in social gaming. The prospect of them slugging away at each in court and airing all kinds of dirty laundry excited me.

Poor old Zynga has been having a hard time of it. Late last year its bubble bubble appeared to burst, resulting in 13 canned games and layoffs across the company. EA put this down to social gaming being "overhyped" and Zynga having its eggs all in one basket.
