You can now register to participate in the new Xbox Live dashboard preview program, Microsoft has announced.

Those chosen are expected to test the new system.

"This is an important program as we continually strive to ensure the reliability of a service that reaches tens of millions globally," Microsoft mouthpiece Major Nelson wrote on his blog.

"We could not do so without the ongoing help of our great community."

The program will trigger an update to your Xbox 360 that includes a new design (for integrated Kinet and controller navigation), new Beacons, better Facebook integration and new Cloud Storage for game saves and Xbox Live profiles.

Other features and apps may be added during the program period, Microsoft said.

Microsoft's new dashboard, rumoured to be set for a 25th November launch, adds a raft of new features and third party apps, including BBC and Lovefilm.
