Bungie Aerospace trademarks "Crimson"

Global computer network and mobiles mentioned.

Mysterious Bungie spin-off company Bungie Aerospace has filed a trademark for something called "Crimson".

According to the listing on the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website, spotted by GameSpot, Crimson relates to "computer game software downloadable from a global computer network".

Also mentioned is "computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones".

It is unknown whether Crimson relates to Bungie's next game, set to be published by Activision as part of a gargantuan 10-year deal, or something else.

But the USPTO description fits with comments made by Bungie staffers over the last 18 months.

"Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you, with lots of stories to tell, like a big, infinite storytelling horizon?" writer and designer Joe Staten said last year.

"Man, that would be great."

Bungie has been rumoured to be making a MMO shooter called Destiny. It was loosely defined as "WOW in space", although Bungie has denied this.

Is Crimson, which, remember, relates to "computer game software downloadable from a global computer network" it? Whatever the case, a link to mobile phones looks likely.

In March Bungie lead network engineer David Aldridge said the Halo developer's next project would be a "massively multiplayer action game", but he later claimed to be joking.
