Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is getting a fishing tournament

New Leif.

Animal Crossing smartphone spin-off Pocket Camp is getting yet another round of new features, including a fishing tournament, more villagers and an appearance from Leif, the sloth who runs a garden centre.

Fishing Tournaments were featured in Animal Crossing New Leaf for 3DS, and are again fronted by chipper beaver Chip. Again, you'll be competing to find the biggest and heaviest aquatic animals.

Looking further into the future - and thanks to reddit fan SenorDeebs, who peeked inside Pocket Camp's latest update files - there are several more events in store.

A new garden event looks like it will hit around St. Patrick's Day in mid-March, run by Leif the cheerful and slightly trippy sloth.

Mario-themed items are also headed to Pocket Camp in a "crossover event". Whether this means Animal Crossing items are headed to Super Mario Run, we're not sure.

This week has seen terrain items arrive in Pocket Camp so you can customise your campsite's surrounding landscape. Other new features on the way include the ability to select multiple plants at once while tending to your garden.
