Exclusive: Race Driver: GRID - Le Mans

Published 24 April, 2008 Duration 1:57

If you're going to tackle a race circuit as iconic as Le Mans, you've got to do it properly. Luckily, Codemasters are confident that they've done just that, and here's a video to prove it.

The LeMans track in that vid >>>>Its WAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too wide, track is no way that wide in Real Life. FIX IT CodeMaster.

Less 'lets make it easier' for the knuckleheads More 'realism' what its actually like.

I laugh when i see sony's F1 game and the Monaco GP track is about 60ft across FOR THE WHOLE TRACK.

want us to take GRID seriously fix this, nice night time lighting effects @ Lemans

I'm starting to get my hopes up for this game again. I just hope the physics are PGR rather than NFS arcadish. They have certainly looked a bit dodgy in a few of the gameplay videos.

I also hope the drifting is going to be a very minor part of the game - and that some of the engine sounds we've been hearing have been either place holders or the videos just haven't done them justice.

Having played a ton of GTR2, rFactor etc. while I was still a PC gamer (I'm actually sort of missing a proper racing sim, too bad they don't exist on consoles, and that my latest PC setup really isn't fit for gaming), I love proper race cars and real life race tracks - though I certainly don't mind street cars and street courses either :).

Edit: About the width of the track - yep, it does look like they've gone a bit overboard there, but the real track is really quite wide down the Mulsanne straight (I just checked a couple of YouTube lap videos to confirm what I remembered), though not exactly four cars wide as it almost appears to be in that game footage, more like three if they don't mind rubbing shoulders a bit.

balls. i think gamers expect tracks to be well referenced anyway, there's no point making a video about it saying how good your version is.

"I also hope the drifting is going to be a very minor part of the game"

from what i can tell it will comprise a third of the game, so prepare to be disappointed. and the handling from what i've seen and read is a little more arcadey than PGR4.

Hey Corben and Myths, I go to Le Mans every year and I can tell you that certain sections of the Circuit de la Sarthe are just that wide. Particularly the along the start/finish straight by the grandstands.

Remember that there are 4 different classes of cars (LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2) that all race at the same time and travel very different speeds therefore a narrow track would make the race impossible.

The only sections of the track that are narrower than what you see here are the parts that become normal roads throughout the rest of the year.

If you require more evidence... observe:

I desperately want this to be good but I'm worried about the handling. If this centrally pivots like Dirt, me and all my buddies won't be getting this.
