Uncharted likely to continue

"Pretty much" a sure thing.

The first game may only have come out today, but Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells says that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is bound to continue in future.

Speaking to Three Speech readers, Wells said: "We developed Uncharted as a franchise. The pulp action/adventure genre lends itself perfectly to serialisation and continued episodes, which is one of the reasons we were attracted to it." Wells said the team was "brainstorming" the team's next project, "but even if we don't do an Uncharted sequel right away, you can pretty much count on us doing one in the near future."

Wells also reiterated what he told our readers in a recent LiveText interview; that "Jak & Daxter is a definite possibility some time in the future". Wells adds: "There is a lot of interest around the office in going back to that franchise and seeing what we could do with it using the Uncharted engine." Technology that, he said, is destined to be put to more use in whatever Naughty Dog gets up to going forward.

As for the first Uncharted, it's a mixture of Naughty Dog's trademark excellent platforming and Kill.switch-inspired cover-and-fire gunplay, bound up in an exciting action-adventure film style story that sees protagonist Nathan Drake following in the footsteps of Sir Francis Drake in an attempt to make some money. Check out our Uncharted: Drake's Fortune review for more reasons to take an interest.

I certainly hope so - I've only done the first section but it's already looking like a classic. It actually features much, much more Tomb-raidery stuff than I thought and it's certainly a lot more fun than the last few TR games.

Please make the next ND game a J&D game... and without to much gunplay this time, thank you :)

Well duh! It's the only worthwhile thing on the bloody console, of course they will make sequels.

Uncharted is awesome, dipped straight into Hard mode, and it's intense.

The way the game goes from chapter to chapter is cool, and I was surprised that they put rewards (a.k.a Achievements) in this, I don't remember them putting anything like that in their previous games.

I hope my copy of the game arrives this morning... Gameplay.com seem to be a bit late sending out their games since they relocated, I no longer get games on Thursday now, it's usually Friday or sometimes even Saturday. I'm really looking forward to playing this game too. :(

Teehee I ordered from Play.com and got mine yesterday. :)

Which was a surprise given that they said they deliver in 3-5 days, and they dispatched my copy on Wednesday morning.

Please God no, I will be most annoyed if my order from gameplay comes tomorrow as I have today off work. They dispatched it yesterday morning so fingers crossed!

I'd love Nathan to look for Atlantis, and borrow and remake the music from Fate of Atlantis.

+1000 bonus points for Kill.Switch reference instead of Gears of War

    It's out today? Excellent.

Another game to fill the 'waiting for dead 360 to be fixed' period.

I'd prefer more Uncharted over a new J&D. The first game certainly leaves you wanting more.

I really hope they do a sequel..., the game is amazing, art direction, graphics, gameplay, argument, acting (with lifelike caracters)... anyone with a Ps3 should play it immediatly.

Such a good game, glad there is a sequel coming. It has a great atmosphere to it which only a few games manage to capture.

Im not sure this is such a good idea.

An average game wouldve been much easier to make a sequal for because it wouldnt take much to beat..this on the tother hands will..

This game is FAB..the sequal will be expected to be even better otherwise people wont buy and will complain that they've seen it all before..

If they arnt careful, they could ruin it/damage their reputation.

If it pulls off though then brilliant news!

Apologie, did you cut and paste that exact comment into the Heavenly Sword story too? For God's sake man, Sony deserve better, at least come up with original praise for each of their titles.
