Tomb Raider: Underworld DLC dated
First lot in February, pictures inside.
Eidos has announced that Tomb Raider: Underworld downloadable levels Beneath the Ashes and Lara's Shadow will be available on 10th February and 10th March, respectively.
"They will be competitively priced," a spokesperson for Eidos told Eurogamer, but nothing has been decided yet.
The two levels, as you know, are also exclusive to Xbox 360.
When pushed on the possibility of PC and PS3 versions, the spokesperson added: "Eidos has only announced two downloadable packs for Xbox 360."
Given the recent lay-offs and "refocusing" at developer Crystal Dynamics, we'd be surprised to see this content offered elsewhere.
Beneath the Ashes takes Lara back to Croft Manor where she uncovers some hidden caverns storing cobwebby crypts that hide a menacing power. We're not sure why she missed this before, but she has found six new costumes to adventure in. There's also an extra 125 gamerpoints on offer.
Head over to our Tomb Raider: Underworld - Beneath the Ashes gallery for the first screenshots, featuring a practical khaki trousers and aqua long-sleeve top ensemble.
We're still waiting to hear what Lara's Shadow will be about.

This is everything thats wrong with DLC, it's even worse than Namco and their Soul Calibur 4 unlock codes.
I really wish DLC was never invented, it's turning into such a terrible thing for consumers, and if Cliffy B has his way, then some day we'll be paying extra to see the endings of our games, i hope EG readers will steer clear of this bullshit...
What ever happened to unlocking content via gameplay, eh?

ok, it was a stupid generalisation, free or genuine dlc, content developed after commercial release isn't so bad.
But when devs start cutting content out of games, just so they can sell it seperately, or locking content out until we pay, things start getting out of hand, it's an extremely negative trend you must admit...

They did say it had been cut from the game, though I thought it was down to not fitting with the main game (either made it too long, or didn't fit with the story). Most games have loads of content that doesn't make it into the final release (eg. Hot Coffee in GTA:SA), I guess in this instance they just decided to not completely abandon it so have (hopefully) polished it up for release separately.

I'm certainly not a fan of developers cutting content just to exploit us, but I don't see any problem with content for DLC being developed along side the main game - these things take time to develop.

Made it too long does not compute, Underworld was pathetically short. And didn't fit with the story makes little to no sense either because the story was rubbish and couldn't have been damaged by a longer level exploring under Croft Manor.
Lara's Shadow - I'm torn between hoping this is time trials because I really want them and frothing at the mouth at the idea of Eidos cutting time trials out of the main game only to sell them to us later (and then only to people who bought it for the 360).

They couldn't come up with something more original could they?!?
Right on EG!
