Update: Oops, as pointed out, EA has already touted a "holiday" date.

Original story: EA has revealed that The Sims 3 will be heading to console this "holiday" season.

The publisher's top money man Eric Brown spilled the beans during a Wedbush Morgan Securities conference in New York today.

Specific platforms for The Sims 3 were not mentioned, but we expect a full spread akin to The Sims 2, which was ported to DS, GBA, GC, PS2, PSP and Xbox.

The Sims 3 was released on PC last June and achieved 8/10 on Eurogamer. Chief among the new features was a streaming open world that Sims can walk freely around.

It will suck. I love the series, but The Sims is a PC game, all previous ports sucked on consoles, I doubt it will be different.

Can we expect a sleuth of DLC (a la expansion packs?). I agree The Sims is best suited for PC users,though there are some casual gamers and hardcore Sims fans who will buy a console version.

I bet marrying XBL mini transactions to the Sim series is probably some EA suit's wet dream. Problem is the people who play and use XBL arent exactly the target audience for the Sims.

Loved Sims 3 BTW. Really good game.

I loved the Xbox version of Sims 2, so I'll be getting this one. I liked the way it was set-up for console and hope they take the same approach.

I really enjoyed previous versions of The Sims on console - even if they were slimmed down from the PC versions.

Is this a proper game, now, or yet another crapfest with The Sims name stuck on it? Because I have the first two on PC but can't run the third, and really do like the games. But I don't want it to be some half-arsed adventure or something that just happens to feature Sims. I want proper lots, proper furnishings, and the freedom to make me some lesbians!
