Stranglehold demo available
Get it now on Live.
A demo for Stranglehold is now available to download from Xbox Live, weighing in at a hefty 1.28 GB.
It gives you the chance to jump into the boots of tough-nut cop Tequila, and blast your way through a marketplace area as you take down the baddies - destroying absolutely everything as go.
Midway hopes the cinematic gunfight will give you a juicy mouthful of what the Hong Kong-inspired shooter is all about.
The game is based around John Woo film Hard Boiled, and both he and actor Chow Yun-Fat have leant their considerable talent to the project - estimated to be one of the most costly projects around at USD 30 million.
The game is due out on 7th September on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Head over to our Stranglehold gamepage for our considerable coverage to date.

log on to marketplace online and get it to download to your xbox..thats network intergration..similiar to skys anytime recording service!!!
i know there are security implications..but if you implement the xbox's netowrk device to only respond to a pc with your MAC address then your sorted!!
thats all copyrighted by the way..no one try and steal my idea (C)!!

but the game is action packed and fun, so it should do well. Makes Gears of war seem...slow. Precision aiming is cool, shooting a guy in the nuts is reason enough to try the demo.

For me I'm kind of the opposite, apart from the "pretty darn good bit"
At first I thought it was really shit, like a much less polished Max Payne, with crap graphics and unsatisfying shooting.
But once you play through a few times so you know where the baddies are, where the interactive stuff is, and the general level structure so you where and where not to dive, it gets a hell of a lot more enjoyable. Once you know where everything is, you can really start to get creative.
It looks like it'll be one of those 'massive fun, but flawed' type of games. Such flaws as: the options for where you can take cover aren't always obvious (so many times I'd gone for cover only to have Tequila standing there being shot at :/ ), and the annoying tendancy to slowly walk up to a table to just pick up some ammo but then proceed to slide right across the damn thing. I was aslo annoyed at not being able to stylishly dive from the top of the scaffolding while shooting, falling straight down instead. But other than those minor niggles, it was top stuff.
So in the space of a couple of playthroughs it went from "leave this shit", to "definitely pick it up if I'm at all bored between Bioshock and Halo 3".

Considering the PS3 and 360 have Waaay less memory than this and graphical grunt only comparable to a GeForce 7900 I find this hard to believe, but if its tru then it sounds like the PC version is a pile of unoptimised rubbish!
