Star Trek Online out in February News

MMO PC News by Oli Welsh

5 November, 2009

Cryptic and Atari have confirmed that their MMO Star Trek Online will be released for PC on 2nd February 2010 in North America, and 5th February in Europe.

The confirmation follows Amazon.com and GameStop listing the 2nd February date on their pre-order pages earlier in the week.

"It's definitely early 2010," executive produce Craig Zinkievich told us last month, and it turns out he wasn't kidding. Despite his comments, February will be earlier than many expected.

Star Trek Online casts every player as a Federation or Klingon starship captain, and allows for ship combat, planet-side exploration and customisation of an AI crew. You can find a hands-on from the Eurogamer Expo and tons more information at the Star Trek Online gamepage.

I wouldn't be expecting too much if Champions Online is anything to go by.

Absoluterly fantastic. After having a go at the Expo, I'm really looking forward to this. Piloting a starship that I've tweaked to my own requirements is going to be awesome!

That is quite a bit earlier than I'd anticipated too.

Looking forward to this. Just posted an interview with the producer on my site and enjoyed what I've played of the game.

A bit close to the release of Mass Effect 2, but then again that just means I can skip the first month server woes I suppose. Hmm.

Looking forward to this...although what's with the negative marks across the board here? Nothing that deserves it that I can see, unless some mentalist really doesn't like Trek and this is his way of letting us all know. Or something.

*waits for said mentalist to turn up and downgrade this comment*

EDIT: And then everything was back to 0 again. Up and down like a hooker's knickers...

It was the game I was most impressed with at the show.

I've pre-ordered it.

Seems a few people liked this at the Expo. Were we playing the same game? I wasn't a big fan, and I like quite like a bit of cheeky Trek on the side, but each to their own.

WARNING!!!

Eurogamer, state your source or stop to spread rumors. There was no official press release or any kind of announcement about a date.

Quote from the official forum:

When we confirm our launch date, I assure you, that you will find that information here before anyone else.

Thanks,

Stormshade

There was a Eurogamer Expo where the developers were at - some information gathered there.
And then this:
The confirmation follows Amazon.com and GameStop listing the 2nd February date on their pre-order pages earlier in the week.

So, did you read the article? Or do you really rely on forums to be the end all with all information?

Spekingur, you might want to re-read what was posted by Eurogamer before you make an idiot out of yourself.

Considering all the fuss on the STO forums where the community leaders and devs are denying any such release date being specified, I would also like to know who eurogamers source at Atari and Cryptic was for this :P
